Dear John: I'm not sure of a relationship between "Nc" and "Ne" (generally spelled "nee" in the US). I do know that the "English 'nee' is a "loan-word" from the French "nee" (with an "accent mark" on the 1st "e"), which refers to "birth." Randy

Thanks very much for the offer. Most of my family lore came down to us through my Grandfather, Johnnie Muir of Mt. Hope, West Virginia, who was a notorious "story" teller. He was married to Ossie Jean Muir and they had five boys, all of whom served in the military during and after World War II. They became somewhat well know, John (the eldest and my father) Bob, Jim, Bill, and Joe (who was the highest ranking officer killed in Vietnam as of 1965). I also served in Vietnam as well as with the State Department as an "Embassy Marine." Let me know if you want any more.

i was in scotland weekend just gone for a visit, went to edinburgh , found out abit history concerning the Muirs. Apparently the Muirs were recognized in 12th century in areas like Galloway in south west scotland, and owned alot of land later on in the centurys.

Long time no hear. You have a big work-load with a very popular column. You have certainly hit the jack-pot. I'm just getting back into gear. Our 20 visitors from Xmas/New Year have departed, but today heard one family of three are returning tomorrow. So the hopes for uninterrupted peace so I can do some solid work are somewhat jaded. However I live in hope. Is there some way I can help you. Dave Moir

Randy I have another MUIR Family that I am trying to connect to mine.. Do you have this line in your database................in the Queensland Electoral Roll for 1900's an Andrew MUIR & Family was living in North Qld. as a Teacher... also it looks as though he was living at the same place as one of my Forrester MUIR"s.. it is hard to say if he was in the same home or just the same street....I have been trying to find out if there is a connection... This Andrew MUIR born Kirkmichael Sct. 1855 is the son of John MUIR and Mary PATERSON. From the IGI I find the following Children born in Kirkmichael to John MUIR and Mary PATERSON John 1851 James Paterson 1853 Andrew 1855 David 1858 Agnes 1859. Thats all I have at the moment
