Aye David, it will be my pleasure to find you on facebook, I have a good friend there whom I would like you to meet, his name is William Bean, of the MacBean decent...our ancestors were near each other in earley Virginia, North and South Carolina in the 1700's , he lives in Teleford Tenessee. I am glad I can speak freely to you of Christian faith, as in America now, we seem to be suppressed of it! Be of good cheer today, and we shall connect..

David,
I’m agog at such a detailed account of your training. I'm astounded at how much training you've had. It is as thorough and lengthy as that of a piper.

Cheers,
Victor

Dear David,
You'll have to excuse my ignorance. I had to research to find out what a Seannachie was. I found a very good description on the Clan MacTavish web site. If you cut and paste the link into your web browser you can scroll down a little and read it.

If sir, that is what you are, for Clan Muir, can I please ask you, what you know of the difference between the two mottos in existence today.

The one that I know has been used in my family, for at least 150 years is, “DURIS NON FRANGOR” the other one used by Muirs, is “DURUM PATENTIA FRANGO”. Can you tell me what the story is with the two slightly different mottos, as you understand it? (I do understand the translated meanings)

Best regards,
Victor

David,
Is there a big distinction now days, betwen the people of the Highlands and those of the Lowlands? I've not been blessed to have been there yet. How long has your family been living near Loch Ness?

Regards,
Victor

David,
Welcome to the site. I'm descended from a David Muir born in 1786 in Stair, Ayrshire.

Does your family come from down that way originally?

Best regards from Australia,
Victor
