When Patrick and his sons arrived, and had their children baptised, William was listed as "A stranger from Ireland". Other notes have said they were born in Ulster. Mary, Patricks daughter married John Justice in the church in newell church in Scituate MA abt 1724/27, She stayed near them for quite awhile and I think she died in Halifax Co VA.
Patrick's son Robert was a constable and so was Hugh who died 1760 leaving a will in Halifax Co. VA but the last page had been torn away. There was a struggle when Hugh's minor son John wanted to claim his inheritence, and His mother Martha (Wall) remarried first Bates, then Lawson. The court record show Nathaniel Greene siding with Young John's rights. Looks like Lawson was trying to take over everything. Greene defended John.
I understand that a Constable, is a Baron of Land, and in Scotland is only hereditary title. I dont know if that is so, but seems logical. The title Gentleman follows Hugh, Robert, and John, but not found in my Joseph, and Alexander or William who became a minister called a dissenter.
In court records of Halifax Co VA, a man named Kirby or Irby spelt his name with a loop and inside it wrote 1746. This clues me into maybe a Culloden event, but I dont know, Kirby ended up with a large plantation and slaves. He may have been a Constable also I dont know for sure. In 1771 on Miry creek lived a John Hancock, and a Thomas Payne alongside the John Moore Gent. who stayed on in Halifax VA while his brothers migrated 1763/67 to SC and NC.
I have some copies of the Halifax Court records. I also followed names we were associated with. Boyd bought our lands after 1767, and some Boyds are found still amoung us in SC, and NC and GA where we ended up, before our 1870 move to Colorado.
The powerful association is the placename Halifax.

To those who bravely stepped up to the call to honor the Clans, I thank you for being there and going through all that you endured to be the beacon for the Muirs. It would not be easy for anyone to have been the first in abt 250 years of being bannished, to step back into the circle we once very strongly belonged and participated in wholeheartedly. I hope we can grow closer togather, and heal those ancient wounds.
God Bless!

I have about a bizillion questions in my head, and I have no place to ask them, (that I am aware of). Firstly, how many zeros are in a bizillion? Secondly, did I spell that correctly? lol. Ok, seriously... Some of my questions are way out there, but something tells me there might be a clue or a new avenue to inspect to gather truth for myself. So, I put my brave heart on my sleeve, and although I am sometimes shaking in my braveheart boots, I am going out of my comfort zone, and I am just going…
