The Clann That Will Not Die

Hi
I all.
Great site. Hope I post this in correct place.
Has anyone in this group had Y-dna results.
I am a MORE born Caithness in Scotland and family traced back to 1690 in Caithness. I fully expected to be celt norse viking or similar but seems my MORE line is Group I2b2 which puts us in Germany 3000 years ago and of anglo saxon descent. (a lot more data on that if anyone similar group)
Help! anyone else with results. Anyone else with Scottish roots so I can match or rule out and/or even help you.
Tricia

Dear Tricia:

I think I'm loosing my mind ... but, maybe I lost it long ago and just now am realizing it. Grin. I thought I had already responded to you somewhere about this, but ... I sure don't see it here.

I really don't know what to think of the chromosome testing ... I do believe this type of testing may well have and serve its place, but ... ??? I would even like to try it myself, but ... no way can I afford it. I do believe we're all related ... especially if we could go back far enough in time ... in fact, I suspect a whole bunch of us are related in more than 1 way. If I recall, several "cultural groupings" in UK history were originally of stock from somewhere else in Europe, especially from the Germanic lines in England and Scandinavian in Scotland (and more so the further north you go). I am no authority in this area. So I could well be wrong.

Something else that folks may find of interest is that a friend told me back yrs. ago that Norway and Sweden have names very similar to "MUIR" ... in 1 place they use "MUIR/MUIRE" (with the "E" often being dropped) and the other country has something like "MYHR" ... and that it actually meant something similar to what it means in Scotland "watcher of a moor." I may be "remembering" the "facts & details" of this wrong, but ... I'm telling it as best I remember.

Randy
